We know that certain magnetic field patterns can produce hallucinations without acting via sense organs. This is just one instance of the environment
directly interacting with brain activity. Psi is probably not an electromagnetic force, but it may just as easily be explained by an unknown environmental factor interacting directly with processes going on in the brain. No 'sense organ' needs to be involved, unless the brain as a whole is labelled as such in this context.
