The new episode is a special "bashing the skeptics", so let's talk about this. Alex Tsakiris is of course completely wrong on many things he says and believes in, but let's take one argument for now:
He claims that skeptics don't read the research. Let me take one simple example to prove him completely wrong.
I was at the European Skeptic Congress in Brussels in 2005. And who was the special guest during this congress??? Rupert Sheldrake!!! Yes, the skeptics invited Rupert Sheldrake to present his researchs at their congress, in front of al the skeptics there (phycisists, mathematicians, psychologists). Why? Because skeptics wants to know about the parapsychologycal researchs and see if there is something into it.
So at that congress, I listened to Rupert Sheldrake during two hours, and I must say he has a lot of charisma. But that doesn't mean his researchs are strong evidence for psi.
So this claim by Alex Tsakiris is completely stupid. He's completely unfair in his view on the skeptical mouvement, and his picture of the mouvement is just a strawman.
I mean... I know that myself I'm reading a lot of pro-extraterrestrial books about ufo (ufology is my main interrest). An here I'm listenning to this pro-parapsychology podcast. Of course skeptics are reading the researchs!!! The difference is not about reading and not reading, is about the way we assess the quality of those researchs. Alex Tsakiris thinks that they are good and well-done researchs, provinding strong evidences for paranormal phenoma, where the scientific community disagee with that...
Well, I don't think he will never understand that point anyway... He is too lost in his belief system now...
