Of course, athletes rationalize their failures. That's what athletes are expected to do when they fail.
But I think we all know that when you see high jumping on TV, that's just computer graphics and special effects. Nobody can actually jump really high. And when people run really fast, that's just speeding up the tape. Obviously extraordinary feats of athleticism are faked...if they were real, they'd be reliable. Athletes claim they are unreliable. Therefore athletes do not exist.
