This is an interesting debate for sure! But I do not see anything about how these chemical additives and pesticides, hormones; truly interact with our bodily functions. It may be listed in Talker's many links-----I will take a look when I find the time.
I agree that the antioxidants are the important protection we need, and can be found in the whole food and organic sources. These help to ward off and fight the toxins that can damage our internal organs; sometimes over many years. It is like the toxins are an electron that the body can not understand and they become "free radical scavengers" that attack our cells. Then vitamin E will come along and grab on or neutralize it, so the body can expel it for us. Without this the immune system becomes weak and illness can take hold.
Stress is also a big factor that needs attention in our lifestyle and learning to relax. So I say: find a good book, relax with a great cup of tea in the sunshine-----
