Is it possible that you were hallucinating, or dreaming? I know that when you're quite tired (this has happened to me a number of times) you're more likely to experience auditory and visual hallucinations. Additionally, if you're quite tired, the dreams you have are much more visual.
Along the line of dreams, it could've been a waking dream, which people have not infrequently (this is the basis for the Chest-Hag phenomenon, and manifests more often these days as a perceived "alien" encounter). You feel like you're awake, even though you aren't; it can be quite convincing. |
