Would Charles Taylor be interested in an interview? Like a lot of philosophers, I don't think Taylor ever wrote about paranormal research, NDEs, etc., but he is a Catholic and definitely on top of his game in explaining non-neutral moral stances underlying the stances of atheism and scientism that pretend they're neutral, etc., and how those moral stances grew out of and are parasitic on prior theistic stances (benevolence, the affirmation of the value of ordinary life, etc.) and ultimately are incoherent and self-contradictory.

If ever you want to go ahead, you'd have to give me a fair amount of time to prepare - A Secular Age sounds like another major statement of his, and it's 800 pages!

I'd definitely be interested in helping you. What help would you be looking for and what exactly would the topic be? I wouldn't want to be an interviewer or anything like that, my public performance shyness would act up too much, but I am definitely interested in ideas you have about such a show and how I might be of help.

If it's about Charles Taylor's ideas about unbelief (18th century), scientism (19th and 20th centuries) and how came about culturally and philosophically, I definitely feel I have some very strong hold on what he's saying about those topics based on his book Sources of the Self, like I referred to in my post.

Alex, in your interview with Michael persinger, did you get the impression that his newer findings were leading away from a materialist position? I just watched a conference he held, and his position seemed less grounded in materialism since your interview with him.

I think Jonas Elrod would be a great interview Alex. There is a documentary called Wake Up that describes his experience. You can either rent the movie...which I did a while back...or check out various clips on YouTube or Oprahs site. He was a guest on her show.

Another great consideration would be Dr. Kirby Surprise. What a great name eh? By the way, I think for any skeptic who wants to test out woo-woo for themselves all they need to do is pay attention to their own lives and the continuous little coincidences that come about. The more you pay attention, the stronger and weirder they get. Trust me...I know. ha-ha.

We were going back and forth - I would like to know which posts and which rules I violated.
I called you on backing Wakefield without giving evidence - other than him playing Martyr, finger pointing at Deer (though most of the issues existed before his involvement).
I responded to comments on the cold fusion issue - You stated that the fact that MIT had faked the report was clear cut - I only found a weak reference to this - A MIT individual that (many years later?) reported that he saw data sheets that had different results.
I do feel that you jump to the paranormal before the normal has been exhausted or at least ruled out reasonably.
I listen to your podcast to hear from/about a view that is different than mine. I post to discuss with those who have views different than mine.
I can get a bit snippy.
If you let me know what I did wrong then I can decide if I want to play by the rules of the owner of the house.

No sorry I am not up-to-speed on it. I've been having internet connectivity problems lately. I'll be more careful about my links. I'm not a kooky anti-Semite and I didn't initially learn about the Randi's scandals from that link. It's just one of the links that came up in google and I happened to link to it.

I initially learned about Randi and his controversies reading The Trickster and the Paranormal by George Hansen. As far as I know, he is not an anti-Semite.
