Don't let the loud noise of debunking depress you. Serious, critical, honest scientists know full well the extent to which we do not know what consciousness is and, therefore, what the disintegration of the brain may mean to our sense of self and existence. The question is extraordinarily complicated, and there is serious evidence to suggest consciousness is not generated by the brain. There are even alternative models that are entirely consistent with empirical observations from neuroscience. No need for fear; really. It's not a matter of faith, but of disciplined, serious, critical thinking.
Take care, Bernardo.
