The story of Daniel Tammet is a rare story. And although it is not about psychic abilities, it is still a story of extreme, paranormal mental ability

I see absolutely no reason to think that this ability is paranormal. It is certainly exceptional, but exceptional is not the same thing as paranormal. It is certainly not understood, but not understood is not the same thing as paranormal.

It terms of raw "computing power" the brain has plenty of capacity for doing these things. What we don't understand is how that power is marshaled in these cases to these very specific tasks.

So, what scientific "laws" as currently understood appear to you to be violated here?

Well, perhaps it was some bad wording on my part. I didn't use it in the sense that it defies scientific laws (hence I wrote that it is not psychic) yet it is beyond normal abilities for almost all of human, so I wrote paranormal. Maybe I should have stayed with only "extreme".
