Default Stuck in Alpha?

Hello,
This is in regards to the following article: Relaxation Technique 6: Entering alpha state of mind by yourself - Parapsychology articles and blog
I did this before sleep one night and it worked very well. But the problem was that the next day I kind of felt "out of it". I do not want to operate in alpha regularly, I just like to use this technique to help me fall asleep and get restful sleep. Is it possible to get sort of 'stuck' in alpha? When one wakes up from sleep induced by this technique, can they still be in alpha? Should I do anything in particular to make sure I'm out of alpha?

Many thanks!
Ryan

Hello, Ryan.

Unless you have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) you'll be in beta and out of Alpha most of the time, more importantly, most of the time that you're with your open eyes, doing something, like walking, eating etc.

You can be in alpha, though, when you're awake but daydream, like for example when you drive and the you suddenly notice that you were kinda off for some time and don't remember arriving to where you are now. But most of the time, when you're fully alert, you'll be in beta.

Of course, I can't fully understand what you mean that you felt "out of it". Perhaps you relaxed very well the previous evening with this technique and had a good night sleep and the next morning you were more relaxed than usually. And if you're regularly like to be all tight and tense, then you felt "out of it". Perhaps it's something else, though, since, again, I don't know what you meant exactly.

How long did you do the technique for? Were you doing a lot of other meditation techniques the same day? You may just need to cut back on meditation and relaxation exercises.

Thanks for the info, it was all very helpful! There is one correction to my original post that I need make. It probably won't make any difference to y'all, I just feel the need to make this correction: I said that I don't want to operate in alpha regularly. It would be more correct for me to say that at the moment I don't want to operate in alpha regularly, because I simply don't know enough about the alpha state. Anyway, thank you both and I feel much better about the situation now.
