The Fallacy of Conventional Treatments of Mood Disorders.
Conventional treatment for mood disorders are centred around the psychotropic medications and/or psychotherapy (Talk therapy). This is based on the false assumptions that either mood disorders are caused by an underlying biochemical imbalance (that is correct in most cases) or that they are caused by irrational thoughts and ideas that can be corrected by persuading a person to think differently in talk therapy sessions. The latter stock-in-trade arguments are usually put forward by "psychologically" oriented therapists. But the two cannot be both be true. If mood disorders are in fact caused by irrational thoughts it would be inappropriate to prescribe mood altering medications. Nor could different ways of thinking "cure" any underlying physiological illness that lies at the root of mood disorders.
Studies have shown that about 60 per cent of patients remain resistant to conventional treatment for depression see:

The alternative is to look at some of the biological abnormalities that is responsible for mood disorders AND that can be treated without resort to drugs. Drugs only mask symptoms and do nothing to address the underlying causes of emotional disorders. The sale of medications only entrench those sections of the mental health industry that have a a vested interest in its perpetuation.
A person who is prepared to master and devote some time to studying the nutritional aspects of mood disorders should be able to help him/herself overcome emotional illnesses with the help of a Nutritional Doctor or a Clinical Nutritionist or Nutritional Psychologist.
