[QUOTE=Open Mind;19399]Kim, I enjoyed reading your post .... I agree with most of what you said, except ....

But our perceived world has people doing things we do not want them to do ... so it can't be quite that simple .IMHO ... reality is somehow associated with 'shared' information ... I am not claiming there is only one fundamental reference point like materialists believe, matter (whatever that is) is forcing us to share the same perspective to some degree whether we believe it or not.

That is why Consensus Science is really Politics you can see how the selfish elites are controlling and manipulating our shared reality:

"A dream you dream alone is just a dream, but when you dream it together, that's when it becomes a reality.

I think my quote got lost. I don't see anything I said... maybe I forgot to put something in quotes... but anyway... I think that life is about perception more than fact. I mean lets say Bob sweeps the floor in the factory, and John is the assistant plant manager. Bob thinks he has a great job. He is thankful that he has a job and he is very happy. He feels that his $13 an hour job meets the needs of his family just fine. He is proud of his job, and his sallary. He does not mind shopping at the dollar store, doesn't mind living in a double wide trailer, and his family loves him and thinks he is a great provider. He whistles while he works. He comes home to a warm, loving wife, and his kids adore him. They come running to greet him when he gets home. He is always cheerful and often plays with them. Bob will tell you, he has a great job, a wonderful home, and a beautiful perfect life. He has it made.

John on the other hand loathes his job... he thinks he's above it, and is constantly trying to underhandedly discredit his boss so he can be manager. He hates the little A. in front of his manager title. His $100K sallary doesn't allow him to buy the new luxury car this year, and his wife is riding him to buy a bigger house. His kids need tennis lessons, and overall he's very very dissatisfied with his sallary, his job, and his life. His kids constantly refer to him as a looser because they want more and more things, and he agrees with them, because he has spoiled his children, and has allowed them to be overly focused on things. He's promised his wife a bigger house for years, and he feels like a failure because he can't quite afford it. John feels he has a crappy job, he is a failure, his house is too small, though it is three times the size of Bob's trailer. He is poor... because he can't afford the things he wants.

Thus it would seem that floor sweeper is a much better job than assistant manager. A double wide mobile home, can be a palace, while a 3000 square foot home in the country club is a dump. How is that true? Because of attitude... because of choices people make. WE choose whom we associate with, and we choose our goals. We choose the person we marry, and the way we live our lives. We choose the values we teach our children, and we basically create our own reality through attitude. Sometimes it isn't easy to be a saint like Bob, and we all have our John moments, but it is all a matter of choice. Being happy is a lot easier said than done, but it is still a choice most of the time.

My point though is that perceived reality is much different than objective reality, but IMO perceived reality is much more important. I agree that Science, Politics and especially Media creates reality. They have an opportunity to infect the thinking of many people, but really only we choose what we actually believe. We can refuse to accept a tangible fact and completely undermine it's existance in our own lives, and possibly in the lives of others who listen to us, if we know how, and stay consistent.

There either were or were not weapons of mass distruction, but in REALITY, none of us know for sure. Yet I am sure they weren't there, and my neighbors are equally sure they were. WE all decide our reality. I live in a totally different reality from my neighbors, and I choose that reality every day... except sometimes, when I get totally overwhelmed and run over by someone else's reality. Then I have to strengthen myself, and repair my reality to fit MY specifications. That is what people do.

Scientists are often mistaken, they sometimes lie, and are even more frequently misquoted by the press, and politicians. Politicians and Media manipulators often twist science to suit their own purposes. How many times have you heard a commercial state that they have the #1 doctor recomended product? How many of them choose to tell you that Doctors NEVER recomend their product, and tout it as useless? Yet... one might prefer the useless product, or find it more helpful... because all the doctors could be wrong. Doctors perscribe whatever drug the pharmacutical companies are pushing. They don't know what's best. They only read the litterature, and take gifts and samples from the pharm. salesmen. They put up the little posters, and write the scripts based on what they are told... what else could they base it on. This is true of every area of life... people, whether doctors, lawiers, scientists or politicians, don't really know much, besides what they are told, and what they are taught. Those people who teach us, and tell us have more power to manipulate us, but in the end we choose what we accept.
