| | Conspiracy Theories Poll Some have suggested conspiracy topics be removed from main forum as they feel it discredits serious psi or consciousness research by association.
On the other hand I think most people are interested in conspiracy theories (although they might not admit it in public) whether supporting or debunking a particular claim.
Only 10 options, so it is limited to 8 controversial conspiracy theories likely to be already known to most posters on forum. The bottom 2 options are for those opposed to conspiracy theories in general.

| | I was going to vote on this, but I think characterising all the above as conspiracy theories, isn't right.
I really am more interested in scientific issues, and probably none of the above are really scientific conspiracies. Science seems to go in fads, far more than many admit, and those fads attract money, and people can get scared of new results.
For example, however LENR ultimately turns out, who can sensibly deny the those who work on the prestigious hot fusion machines, must feel threatened by a cheap alternative - long before they even start to evaluate the science.

Let us take LENR (cold fusion) ... a controversial scientist called Andrea Rossi is claiming to have a working, practical device, is currently building two power stations, has been supported by numerous scientists and the newspapers have reported very little upon this. .....
Are the public really more interested in celebrities trying to dance, ice skate, sing, being locked in house or being humiliated in a jungle .... than the *possibility* of a solution to the world's future energy crisis?
The newspapers seem more likely to comment on the style of a politicians haircut, the politicians in turn are likely to not to comment on such topics at all ... nor is there any in depth TV series debate between opponent/proponent scientists on controversial issues such as LENR, parapsychology, UFOs, etc. I would just like to see thse debates take place on larger media stage.... surely more entertaining than yet another garden, cookery, DIY, mindless sports commentary or extraordinarily far fetched soap operas

| Oh I think distortion of the facts is important in many of them! Quote:

There have been numerous groups that have reported various aspects of LENR - including the formation of various isotopes. Quote:

| Well, people can't be serious all the time. I like watching them learn to ice skate, mainly because I do that a little myself. Quote:

I mean to me, if history has been wrongly told regarding JFK, that is mildly interesting, but LENR, NDEs, PSI have the potential to be infinitely more interesting. Princess Diana - well I would only read about conspiracy theories relating to her if I needed to get to sleep at night

| | Oops error in poll question ... ' Which conspiracy theories do you consider a seriously possibility?
Ignore the 'ly' to make sense of it.
By the way I didn't post Princess Diana conspiracy to change anyones opinion, I was merely trying to make my own mind up about whether it was a plausible possibility
I must say one of the poll results has surprised me, I won't say which one yet |

| | The response that surprises me is that every skeptic of psi on the forum appears to be believe at least one of the eight conspiracy theories is a serious possibility.
Which is actually good... if they had claimed to believe in none, I could have started posting the 'skeptic movements' conspiracy/hoax theories they have invented to try and explain away psi claims | |
