| | On Civil War Apparitions This is simply an update to an old post (of mine). It's edited, but inclusive of the same material.
In Paranthropology: The Journal of Anthropological Approaches to the Paranormal Volume 4 1a, my article "A Study of Several Reported Cases of Crisis Apparitions During the American Civil War" was published. It begins on page 62 of this edition. Other interesting contributions were made, such as my friend Cal Cooper's article on the OBE phenomena relating to Dr. Alex Tanous.
Just an update, really. http://www.scribd.com/doc/120804094/...ogy-Vol-4-No-1

The paper is titled A Study of Several Reported Cases of Crisis Apparitions during the American Civil War. I rarely engage in forum like discussions, though I will try to keep up with everyone on here! I do hope the paper is found enjoyable; you'll have to have a Facebook account to view it, but after you read it, be sure to comment with your opinions on the subject matter, interpretations, etc.
Here is the link: http://http://www.facebook.com/note....86046324767549 | I cannot access your link. I have a facebook account, but it seems to make no difference. Can you make a pdf and upload it where the rest of us can get at it? |

Yes, it is. In fact, what I've found very interesting from my research are the many accounts of these things that were documented before real "scientific inquiry" into them began. Many of them weren't adequately documented before the 1880s, but they are there if one does enough research. The main point of this was to stress the importance of studying these types of things.
I am sorry that the link didn't work! I am somewhat confused with the forum layout, mainly since I just started here. I'm already getting the hang of it though, so I hope to make less mistakes in the future.
Oddly, I recently got a message from a person (whom I've kept in correspondence with) about an experience that his great grandmother had during the Civil War, which really goes along with apparitional "crisis" encounters. It impresses me, mainly because I think there are a vast number of cases like this that never get reported. Imagine how much more magnified this could have been back in the pre and post antebellum periods of the 1860s! Really, Myers, Podmore and Gurney did a great service by beginning the detailed study of the phenomena. |

| You can paste a link directly into the post editor, you don't have to use the link icon. If you use the link icon notice that it includes "http://" in the field. The link icon is helpful if you want to use some text as the text for the link rather than the url or the title of the web page. Select some text, then click on the link icon .... |
