The article briefly touches on a point that I think is important. The word "woo" is essentially an insult of bigotry and hatred directed at a defenseless minority.

I think the word is useful to describe certain ideas, but I would not use it to describe a person. Rather like "new agey."

I'm not sure why the minority is any more defenseless than fools, dupes, idealists, materialists, Darwinists, or Randibots.

Can't let this lob shot go pass.

It is hard to defend yourself when you don't have a leg to stand on.

Cheap shot, but I guess that depends on who you assign it to.
