Default One Year Memorial in Norway

One Year Memorial

Today it is exactly one year since evil and insanity struck at the heart of peace and tranquillity.
That such an act is done to a country that is one of the few in the world that strive, and maintain for itself, humanity, peace, coexistence and equality (and is unsurpassed on these issues), is just what one could expect from evil.

Without giving a body and mind to evil, it seems that it often strike at the centre of its opposite.
The good, the young, the most peaceful, the element for good is those that often pays the ultimate price.
Is evil a creation solely by man, or is it an external force that influence?

The Norwegians has done the exact opposite of what the villain hoped for.
They have united even harder, they have come together, they inspire hope, and are determine that this incident will not be forgotten, but foremost, that it will not change their attitude to strive for humanity, peace, coexistence and equality.

This song, in its celebration of Norway, catches the sadness and remembrance of those 69 kids, children, that lost their life that day.

Måste bara fråga... Är du norsk?

Either way, I don't share the politically correct notion that this was a big deal. 77 people died, 100 or so got some significant injuries. Meanwhile, roughly 3 people die worldwide every second, all the time. By the time you're done reading this reply and given it a moment's reflection (which could be around 25 seconds), as many people have died worldwide as did people due to that event. In fact, if you include the death of animals as equally tragic, then the frequency of death occurring on this planet multiplies beyond comprehension exponentially. Additionally, billions of people are sick and starving and hurting and depressed and lonely, etc, etc. The suffering and 'evil' on a global scale is almost as unfathomable for a human being as is the vastness of the universe, even if you don't see death as an evil thing (which I don't).

In fact, more people die yearly from smoking in Norway alone than did people due to that event. And yet we don't call smoking evil (well, some do), nor are we saddened by this fact. Yes, we are emotional beings who react to things that we can relate to, but I prefer looking at things like this as dispassionately as I can. Death happens all the time, and the cause of death (whether it be mad gunmen, unhealthy habits, accidents, diseases or just plain old age) is ultimately irrelevant.

Relevant.
