AANS Neurosurgeon – My Experience in Coma

Not a lot of specifics, just a general call for neurosurgeons (and, I would imagine, neuroscientists in general by extension) to become more attentive to NDEs in consciousness studies. I'm not sure when during this year he wrote this; he mentions that his book is due out in 2013, but according to his website and Amazon.com now, the book will be released October 23, 2012.

The last report on their official page was that 1,000 of their subjects had been released from hospital care, and that they were being tracked down to collect their recollections.

Speaking of NDE-related subjects that haven't dished on details yet - on Through the Wormhole and elsewhere, Dr. Alexander mentioned that he had tried to develop physical models to explain his experience, and that he consulted with other neuroscientists, and still came away thinking it represented something beyond the physical. Anyone else hoping his book goes into that as much as what his experience was actually like?

I wish he would describe something of all this now - maybe a taster of his book - there isn't much for people to discuss as it is - or have I missed something?

Possibly - I haven't been able to see most of the video interviews he's given.

To add to what Edragone already said, I think they announced results are due out later this year.

I have this feeling they're gonna be late, though.

I believe that the core of that mystery is that consciousness itself is deeply rooted in quantum processes.

We have many reasons to doubt that quantum processes have anything to do with consciousness.

Angry Sniffy, I'm very happy to report your hero Koch was wrong in 2006.
