| I just posted this on the main site, Mind-Energy.net. It appears there's a new contentder for the $1 Million prize of the JREF. And this time it's an M.D., Dr. Colin A. Ross. I wonder what you think about this application. -- Dr. Ross, founder of the Colin A. Ross Institute, is the author of over 135 scientific papers and 18 books, many of them dealing with psychological trauma and multiple personality disorder. He claims he can make a tone sound out of a speaker using nothing but an energy beam that he sends out through his eyes. Preliminary tests of the claim will hopefully take place in the near future, once the test protocol is agreed upon. To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests on the way to the $1 million prize. In a forthcoming book entitled Human Energy Fields, Dr. Ross explains a new science and medicine of human energy fields in detail. “Once this energy is identified and captured, as I have done, then it can be studied and used for many applications in medicine and other fields,” said Dr. Ross. Dr. Ross plans to use the $1 Million to develop scanning equipment for medical use and to carry out research on therapeutic uses of human energy fields. -- Source for the news: MarketWatch

| he claims he can do what? I don't really get it, he thinks he can make a sound with his eyes? How the hell is he supposed to do that? If he can do it, good for him. I'm not sure if this claim really has anything to do with Psi though. |

| Just to clarify: He claims he can make a tone sound out of a speaker using nothing but an energy beam that he sends out through his eyes.

| an "energy beam"? What is this guy, some kind of superhero? If he can really do this, that's impressive and I'm sure Randi will be happy to give him the $$, but I'm not sure this dude's claim is paranormal. It's definately unique though. |

| I find hard to believe the claim myself, but I really found this newsworthy since the claimant is a scientists himself and an authority in his field (trauma psychology), so he seems to be putting a lot on stake with this claim of his. I hope he'll follow through with the testing.

Dr. Colin Ross Demonstrates How He Sends a Beam of Energy From His Eyes on Vimeo Also if you watch the above video you will notice that he attaches electrodes (with conductive gel) to each of his ears. I can't imagine that anyone at JREF will let him have any physical contact with the apparatus if his basic claim is that he can emit energy beams through his eyes. You have to wonder why this should be necessary in the first place and if, just perhaps, the effect might have something to do with changes in electrical conduction through his head when he moves eye muscles. But of course it isn't possible for a credentialed scientist to ever delude themselves about a simple thing like this. No never! ![]() |

| I have a feeling skeptics love claims like this. They can be pretty sure of debunking them effortlessly, and the whole thing will probably make the popular press. It really doesn't matter how many idiots like this get debunked, it is people like Sheldrake with properly researched papers that represent the real opposition. David |
