Sweet. Thanks for the info. It's always exciting when someone actually makes it to the preliminary challenge, which is in itself a feat of sorts.

Connie failed the preliminary test. She achieved three misses on three trials. She was a real sport about it.

Further investigation, including reading her first letter to the JREF, leads me to believe that she is stark raving mad. That is unfortunate.

So the ideal person for the prize challenge?

No, it's just unfortunate that she is mad. She conducted the experiment with aplomb and grace.

Looking on the JREF forum for an update: Apparently her reserves of grace have not lasted long.

No, not at all. She actually said pre-test that even if she failed, it wouldn't change her view of the reality of her powers, just that there was "a reason" for her failure.

Now she's claiming that she was cheated.

She had a lot of people (myself included) wanting to give her kudos for standing up in front of 700~ people to take the test. No matter how you slice it, that takes courage. It's a shame that said courage appears to only have extended until the test was over, and didn't include the courage to admit that she was wrong.

It's probably the logical conclusion from her point of view. She was probably convinced that it would work. And she has probably developed that conviction under a long time. The test is just a single instance of it not working so to her mind, it's more reasonable to conclude that something was wrong with the test than anything else.

Her excuse was that "they" weren't talking to her that day to give her the answers. She is mad.
